A stunning painting of Maria Montessori greets guests as they arrive at Marlborough House.
The painting, by British artist Sir Frank O. Salisbury, shows Maria wearing a black academic gown and holding a book, which reads Mammalina Immortale.
Close friends used to fondly call Montessori ‘Mammolina’ and she would sometimes sign off letters using that name.
Sir Salisbury was a famous painter who was well-known across Britain and the United States. He also painted HM The Queen and Winston Churchill.
Marlborough House is the new home of Montessori St Nicholas.
