Last night, Montessori St Nicholas (MSN) held the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board (MEAB) awards to celebrate and recognise those who have achieved accreditations for their settings.
Accreditation Manager, Michele Dows-Miller, welcomed the 15 guests to MEAB’s celebration of their successful accreditations. Amongst them were representatives from MEAB schools in Turkey and Albania.
They had a chance to look round Marlborough House, MSN’s new home. Michele explained that since the Charity moved in at the end of April this had quickly become a centre of great inspiration and creativity in reviewing MSN’s position within the Montessori community, its responsibilities and its ambitions.
The MEAB Awards are an acknowledgement of settings’ achievements in identifying and delivering Montessori best practice for the children that they care for. However, they also provide a moment for reflection on why MEAB is so important for our educational community.
Parents are increasingly asking to be sign-posted to MEAB accredited schools in preference to those non-accredited. MEAB is very well regarded and has stood the test of time as the most successful Montessori accreditation scheme in the world, in terms of its percentage of membership involvement, with 57% of MSA members being MEAB accredited.
It has significant potential to help more settings to grow and develop, which the MSN Charity has recognised. The stronger the voice of Montessori, the higher its profile and the clearer its standards, the more widespread its impact will be on children’s lives.
MEAB exists to help settings grow and develop, and it is looking to inspire many more settings across the globe to join in this commitment to offering children high quality Montessori provision.
The guests were informed of MSN’s other initiatives, both within MCI and with its social impact programme. Leonor Stjepic, MSN’s CEO, Penny Johns and Barbara Isaacs explained current and future developments. Annie Armitage was on hand to photograph the event, delivering amazing results as usual, thank you Annie!
Each school received its MEAB certificate along with a framed photograph of Maria Montessori, and all enjoyed a fine seasonal buffet to finish.
Quotes from MEAB Guests about their accreditations:
‘Very professional……..a very positive experience’
‘…each of our accreditations has been exceptionally helpful. Every one for many different reasons, dependent on our own needs and the improvements to be made. They have all left a lasting legacy, thank you.’
