International Students

If you intend to study within the UK and are not a UK/EU citizen you will need a full and relevant visa for the duration of your studies.

Please note we do not have Tier 4 status and are not able to issue student visas for study in the UK.

What is NARIC?

NARIC offers a variety of services on the comparability of qualifications from overseas (outside the UK). They can provide a Statement of Comparability, which is an officially recognised document that states, in English, what your overseas qualifications equate to in the UK. Please note that you will also need to present transcripts of your qualifications indicating subjects studied and grades as part of the admissions process.

Literacy and Numeracy qualifications for Early Years Educators

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets out the requirements for staff:child ratios in settings delivering the EYFS and the qualification levels that practitioners must hold. These requirements were revised in April 2017. You will need to hold a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths from the list available on the DfE website. To see what can be accepted as an equivalent click here.

Note that this is not a requirement for entry to study on the MCI Early Years Educator qualification, but it will be a requirement for entry to employment to be counted on the ratios to work with children in an early years setting in England.

“I already hold a valid qualification that gives me licence to practice (be counted on the ratios) to work with young children. Do I still need to meet the Maths and English requirements?”

If you already hold a full and relevant Early Years qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 3 Childcare) that was started before September 2014 this doesn’t apply to you.
