Over 100 MCI students (above) graduated on the 4th December.

Camilla Batmanghelidjh, the founder and director of youth charity, Kids Company, was the guest speaker at the MCI Graduation Ceremony and MEAB Accreditation awards on the 4th December.  She presented diplomas to over  100  graduates and plaques to 45  Montessori Schools who had achieved accreditation status.

As she spoke about the 1.5 million children in the UK suffering from neglect, she reminded graduates of their significance in children’s lives. She spoke passionately about putting the child first and urged graduates to never underestimate the importance of kindness and the difference a daily attitude of welcome, compassion and tenderness can make to a child’s life. She ended her talk by saying, “If there is one thing you take from this evening – never ever judge a disturbed child”

A full length report will appear in the April-June issue of Montessori International.
