The Montessori Schools Association, working in partnership with the British Accreditation Council and the Independent Schools Inspectorate is excited to announce its new national Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation Board scheme to give Montessori schools official accreditation and support.
Martin Bradley, the MSA National Chairman said, The ultimate aim is to ensure that the country is full of genuine Montessori schools to protect the Montessori brand.
The scheme for MSA members offers support and guidance to Montessori schools in order to ensure that Montessori provision is of a high quality. It also seeks to reassure parents that their Montessori school meets all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation stage. The partnership with the Independent Schools Inspectorate and the BAC ensures the process is independent with the necessary checks and balances in place.
Twenty Montessorians, selected for their experience and knowledge have now undergone intensive training as Assessors at the offices of the independent Schools Inspectorate in London. Twenty schools from around the UK were chosen from over fifty to be pilot schools for the first round of accreditations. Each was carefully selected to represent a cross section of Montessori settings.
Accreditation visits took place during the summer term. These visits incorporated a combination of principles & practice, staffing/management and quality issues. Early results are extremely positive and accredited schools will celebrate their success at an awards ceremony on December 5th at the Institute of Education in London.
The scheme officially roles out this September. If you are interested in joining The Montessori Schools Association, or would like your school to go on the waiting list to be accredited, please contact Philip Davies at admin@meab.co.uk or phone: 020 7493 8300.
