Montessori St Nicholas - the largest charity dedicated to the funding and promoting of Montessori across the UK and Montessori Centre International – the largest Montessori training organisation in Europe - announce the launch of their ‘Introduction to Montessori in-service training day targeted at primary school Head Teachers.’
The launch, which took place at this weekend’s National Association of Head Teachers Annual Conference in Bournemouth, is the next step in the charity’s plan to extend the Montessori method of education to state primary schools.
Montessori St Nicholas Chief Executive Philip Bujak says: “After the outstanding results at Gorton Mount primary school, in Manchester last year where the Montessori method was introduced in the Foundation Stage, we are convinced that Montessori can help raise standards in our primary schools.”
The day will give an overview of the main principles of the methodology and discuss the specialist equipment used in Montessori schools. It will also share the results of the positive experiences at the first two state Montessori primary schools.
Primary school teachers will be able to take one of a number of Montessori qualifications delivered by the training college. The vision is for a Montessori trained teacher in every state school.
