Lisheen Montessori School supplies has been in business now for twenty five years.

Geraldine and Pat O Connor run this family business from their workshop in South West Ireland.
Geraldine is a Montessori Teacher and ran her own school for ten years in conjunction with being a Director in "Lisheen Montessori School Supplies."

The company manufacture a complete range of Montessori materials and import the products they cannot produce such as the globes etc. When Geraldine was training as a Teacher the Botany Cards were made from cardboard and during her training she enquired as to whether they could be transferred on to wood. This would make them much more durable and hygenic. She was given permission and the puzzles the company produces today were born. Geraldine's Lecturers in St. Nicholas used the materials in training Teachers all over the world and very soon distributors were contacting the company asking if they couldsell the products in Sweden, Canada and Germany.

At Lisheen all the Nature Inset Puzzles and various storage cabinets are produced along with Sand Letters Print and Cursive. Calendar/Weather Chart and a huge range of various puzzles for different ranges including sight impaired children where the outline of the puzzle is higher to help visually impaired children. Maths materials in Sand Numbers, Numbers Pegboard, Adding Board which was designed by Pat himself as an extra aid to Mathematics Materials and which was used with their own children in helping them to understand Maths. Cut out Numbers & Pegs and Printed Numerals. Lisheen also produces all the Maps for the Geography Materials and also The Solar System with a cabinet for storage for the complete set.

The company was asked to produce a special range of puzzles for The Travelling Community depicting Traveller Life and these now come in a set of six. All the products can be viewed on their website at www.lisheenmontessori.com

Lisheen Montessori School supplies is not just a company it is a way of life for The O Connor family who have incorporated the Montessori Philosophy into their everyday lives. Their children attended their Mother's Montessori school in an area which had never heard of Montessori before Geraldine opened her school. Since they grew up and went to University Geraldine qualified in Drama and Dance and is now Director/Teacher of her own stage School where her daughter also teaches and the same Montessori philosphy is applied in this school. Geraldine also works in the company on all areas of advice and marketing and enjoys talking to teachers and parents about the materials. Pat researches and produces the materials. Their children work in the graphics of the company and also help in the workshop anytime they are needed.
Geraldine's brother Oliver Fahey manages the workshop. The company has appeared on television in Ireland which can be viewed on their website. This company is the first company in Ireland to ever produce and sell Irish Made Montessori materials.
