Welcome to the newest MSA region. From 1st January 2011, Hampshire, Berkshire and Surrey forms Region 12. This is to better service our members in South East England and aims to provide more manageable membership size and bring the regular regional events closer to our members.

The region had a very successful MEAB Accreditation Training on the 2nd July 2011 having 28 members from 9 schools attending.  The MEAB Accreditation process was explained well by Dawn Nasser followed by pointers on how to prepare for it.  The day progressed to be as informative, interesting and inspiring for schools to take the step towards accreditation.  Over lunchtime on this lovely day, we were able to relax around the swimming pool and enjoy the garden. 

The MEAB accreditation is a nurturing process rather than judgemental as pointed out by Dawn. Region 12 looks forward to adding to the list of MEAB accredited schools and nurseries in the region.  Thank you to all who came and to the Dawn for enlightening the delegates in this fruitful and engaging day.

Following the summer meeting is a workshop at the Studio Montessori Centre on the 1st October.  Kim Simpson welcomed 55 members of Region 12 to her lovely school and gave a most inspirational workshop on the ‘Essential Personality – Our Higher Purpose’.   Kim took us through an exploration of our own personalities and the impact we have on the children in our care.  She discussed the essence of the child and the spiritual development of each individual which left everyone feeling inspired. 

The day was extra special as we were blessed with sunshine on one of the hottest days in the autumn, so lunch was enjoyed over a picinic in the garden and shopping from Montessori enterprises. 

In the afternoon, we had an equally thought provoking presentation from Susan Hartley-Raven about Practical Life Exercises (Activities of Everyday Living).  The variety of Practical Life exercises shared by the attendees inspired further discussion and sharing of ideas.  I would like to extend my gratefulness to Kim and Susan for guiding our journey of discovery and to everyone who will be practising all the ideas learned on the day.
