The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery is a MEAB accredited, full time day nursery, situated on the South side of Edinburgh. The nursery is celebrating its fourth year and becoming a leading centre of Early Years Education in Edinburgh. Business partners Rachael Campbell and Pam Barr have 20 years of Early Years Education and Montessori teaching nationally and internationally, giving them a clear vision of the standards and quality they wanted to provide for young children.
The nursery is housed in two buildings surrounded by a secured walled garden. The Birth to 3 age group has their own unit in the main building and the Montessori prepared environment is in a large open plan annex, with access to the garden and an outside classroom area. The success of the nursery is based on the high quality and dedication of the staff and the continuous professional development opportunities. The nursery’s atmosphere is always commented on by visitors, professionals and parents. Parents play an integral role to the continual improvement and evaluation of the service we offer, through the Parent Liaison Group.
Bonny Squair is the Manager, and is also a director of a children’s orphanage in India, Snehalaya meaning “home with love”. We actively support Bonny in her work with the children which she visits twice a year.
As MSA Chair and Deputy, Rachael and Pam were given the role of raising the awareness of Montessori education and philosophy in Scotland. So far in this role, they are creating a Scottish website, arranging three workshops a year by Montessori professionals, creating a news page which details Scottish regional news regarding Early Years education, Early Years professionals that support the education of children and recommended places to visit with your class.
