'Under 2s in the Montessori Environment'

Region 6, the East Midlands, held an inspiring event on the 5th of July at Staunton Montessori School in Nottinghamshire.

Chris Manville, formerly of MCI, presented a workshop entitled "Under 2's in the Montessori Environment." The workshop covered theoretical areas such as "the child as a spiritual embryo," as well as very practical suggestions such as the importance of allowing the youngest children every opportunity for large gross motor movements, preferably outside.

Everyone enjoyed a delightful lunch and a chance to meet and talk with practitioners from around the region. We were especially pleased to have three attendees from Spitalgate C of E Primary School in Grantham, which will be converting two classrooms to Montessori in September.
