Region 7 held a very productive workshop on current developments in the early years including challenges to our practice arising from EYFS and SEF. The workshop was held at Stoke Bishop Montessori in Bristol and was attended by 33 members from across the region.
Members were given a comprehensive draft of an MSA guidance for ‘Completing your SEF’ and given practical advice on how to approach SEF completion. This was followed by discussions about challenges presented by the EYFS such as the role of the keyperson. nurturing creativity, the work cycle, work versus play, indoor/outdoor flow and supporting sustained shared thinking. Members also had the opportunity to network and look around the school and were treated to a fabulous lunch cooked by Stoke Bishop Montessori’s chef Irene.
Our sincere thanks go to Martin Bradley and Barbara Isaacs for making the time available to come to the region and for sharing their enthusiasm and expertise in such a positive and thought provoking way.
