New Deputy Accreditation Officer for MEAB

Michele Dows-MillerPlaque

In 2009 the Charity trustees decided that they would look to the appointment of a Deputy
Accreditation Officer to support Barbara Isaacs on the Montessori Evaluation and Accreditation
Board. The parameters were to wait until the new national scheme had crossed 100 schools or
when the level of workload demanded it. I am very pleased to be able to inform you that, as we
will cross the 100 accredited schools mark this summer and that we are very busy, we have
appointed Michele Dows-Miller to this post, commencing September 1st 2010.
Michele attended Grey Coat School in London before going on to work in Israel and on a
kibbutz. After graduating from the University of Bristol with a BSc Hons degree in geography in
1986, Michele went on to study at the MMTO, graduating with the AMI 3-6 Montessori
Diploma in 1992.

After working in a variety of different Montessori schools, in September 1995 Michele opened
her own Montessori school – Weyhill Montessori in Haslemere. Michele was one of the first
cohort of MEAB assessors appointed in 2008.

Michele is fully committed to the national quality kite mark that the MEAB scheme, with its
independent review board, gives accredited schools. An effective communicator, she is a
diligent assessor who also gives confidence to schools in setting out to become accredited and
we are delighted that she will be working with us as we move forward to bring the total
number of MEAB schools up to 200 over the next 18 months.
