There are around 700 Montessori schools and nurseries in the UK, the majority of which are members of the Montessori Schools Association (MSA). The MSA, set up by the Montessori St Nicholas Charity, currently has around 3000 members and supports Montessori schools, teachers and students in the UK. It is free to join.

Most Montessori schools cover the nursery years although a growing number are now offering Montessori into the primary years. Montessori schools are privately owned and run.

The Montessori St Nicholas charity has recently introduced a new Montessori Accreditation scheme aimed at ensuring that all schools using the Montessori name in the UK offer the same high quality of education and care to children.
